Full Description:
Senior Systems Engineer Navigation Working Title and Job Responsibilities Senior Systems Engineer (Navigation) to support the FAA ATO NextGen Implementation and Integration Program Office. Position requires the successful candidate to provide satellite navigation (GPS/GNSS) analysis & expertise in the development, deployment and integration of GPS based Satellite Navigation systems used in the NextGen Air Traffic Management environment. He/she must also possess a thorough understanding of the operation and limitations of satellite navigation systems within the National Airspace Structure (NAS) and its use in air navigation including Required Navigation Performance (RNP), Required Surveillance Performance (RSP), and Automatic Dependent Surveillance/Broadcast (ADS/B) applications. Duties include providing engineering assessments of the planned activities and initiatives necessary to achieve a NextGen 2015 state. Duties also include the conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the “as is” engineering, acquisition, and infrastructure states and development of a gap and risk analysis from the “as is” plan, using “best engineering judgment” to identify and quantify gaps and risks associated with meeting the 2015 objectives. Also includes development of engineering positions and white papers that document and support NextGen’s vision and accomplishments to date by solution sets, benefits, operational improvements, and individual projects.
