The selected candidate will be assigned as the sustaining manufacturing engineer for multiple radio products and will be responsible for the day to day support of these existing production programs. This sustaining manufacturing engineer will be responsible for utilizing their knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control to develop, evaluate, and improve existing manufacturing processes and methods. The selected candidate will be responsible for implementation and analysis of manufacturing engineering projects, tooling, systems as well as specific project plans, strategies, processes and procedures. Using lean manufacturing concepts and practices, the candidate will also be responsible for resolution of manufacturing related issues and problems, as well as process improvement such as cycle time, quality, and cost reduction. The candidate must be able to follow directions while demonstrating initiative in their daily activities, be a forward thinking individual with the ability to perform in an ever changing environment. The selected candidate must have excellent inter-personal and communications skills both oral and written including presentation skills, additionally must have the ability to successfully interface with multiple people and departments. Including but not limited to, engineering and operations managers, R&D engineers, associate engineers, associates, technician, and customers. The candidate must also demonstrate excellent organizational skills, with a focus on multi-tasking and task prioritization. The candidate must demonstrate professionalism, leadership and one who would be considered a roll model that leads by example.
BS Degree in a technical field related to electronic product manufacturing (BSEE, BSME, BSIE, BSEET, BSMET) or equivalent experience. Selected candidate shall have experience in one of more of the following areas: Sustaining manufacturing engineering support in an electronics manufacturing environment; design for manufacturing of electronics oriented products; producibility analysis, estimating production costs for electronics based products; surface mount technology; packaging concepts of electronics oriented products (i.e. radios / communications equipment). Individual must have demonstrated experience in applying lean manufacturing engineering principles, working knowledge of MRP and manufacturing systems; development of manufacturing process procedures including assembly instructions and assembly aids; industrial engineering concepts and/or experience in laying out factories and / or assembly areas; IPC610; J-STD-001; experience using Microsoft based software products. Individual must have experience working in a team environment. Experience working with board assembly suppliers would be a positive. Candidate shall have working knowledge of Microsoft based products and the have the ability to learn new software tools that are used in manufacturing operations. The selected candidate will be expected to use their influence and communication skills to accomplish tasks as required. The candidate will have an awareness of business objectives and their role in achieving those goals. A basic knowledge in Lean Manufacturing techniques is preferred as well as Green or Black Belt certification. Ability to multi task and work in a rapidly changing environment is a must for this position. This position requires sitting and standing for extended periods of time and requires the ability to lift 25 lbs
