Seeking a User Experience Designer to join our team – The qualified applicant will become part of our web team that spearheaded the new look and feel of the CDC.gov website. The ideal candidate will take part in the ongoing refinement of one of the premier public health sites on the Web. In this fast-paced environment, you\'ll also collaborate on designing and evaluating CDC’s interactive and social media projects such as widgets, eCards, podcasts, online video, mobile Web and applications, social networking sites, and more.
Roles and Responsibilities:
*Create usability test plans for Web sites and Web-based applications. Determine the best recruitment and user testing methods based on project goals and resources (time, staff, and budget).
*Conduct quantitative in-person and remote usability testing to understand users\' effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction.
*Analyze user study data, present findings, and make recommendations.
*Independently design, set-up, test, and report results of usability testing and user research to groups throughout the organization.
*Apply user-centered design principles to the creation of user interfaces and information architecture. Create navigational flows and wireframes.
*Create documentation and interaction specifications for Web sites and interactive media products.
*Conduct detailed landscape and competitive analyses of interactive media products and interfaces - communicate findings to appropriate team members.
*Monitor Web analytics and identify problem areas with existing interfaces.
*Collaborate with a diverse set of team members and internal clients - including subject matter experts (doctors and scientists), management, Web developers, graphic designers, content coordinators, marketing experts, program managers, and public health professionals - to determine Web site requirements, goals, target audiences, etc.
*Draft content for Web site and interactive media product prototypes.
*Inform internal clients on the importance of user-centered design.
*Structure technical and scientific information to best leverage the Web medium.
*Stay abreast of new research in the field of HCI and IDT (i.e. User Centered Design, User Testing methodologies, Information Architecture, Information Design, Human Factors, etc.) as well as industry standards and trends.
*Utilize various software applications including: Omniture, Microsoft Office and Visio, Adobe Photoshop, Keynote WebEffective, etc.
